New campus at the University of Latvia, Riga, Jelgavas iela 3

University of Latvia, located in Riga, is the largest higher education and research institution in Latvia. It has >14000 students and >1100 academic and research staff. In total, there are >300 researchers in physics and related subjects at the University of Latvia. The University of Latvia celebrated its 100th birthday in September 2019.

Since early 2019, the Department of Physics and Institute of Physics (IPUL) have relocated to the House of Science within the Torņakalns campus.

Riga is the capital and largest city of Latvia. With a ~700k population, it is also the largest city in the Baltic states. Riga is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and its architecture reflects the various periods of the city′s history since 1201, from the traditional wooden architecture of the city centre to one of the world's largest and best-preserved collections of Art Nouveau buildings.

Riga airport is the busiest in the Baltic states with almost 90 direct flight destinations and convenient access by bus and car (18 minutes from campus and 21 minutes from the centre of Riga).
